Fun w/ facial hair

I don't know if anyone else knew this, but supposedly there is this international beard and moustache competition annually. I find this rather amusing. Here are one of the winners from a previous year.

So hardcore.
Just think of how high maintenance that would be.
How would you eat soup?

Freedom

After such a long state of sleeplessness and studying, I am finally free from the chains of university. So good to sleep in. It was wonderful.
My birthday yesterday was great.
Emilie (roomate) had me go on a scavenger hunt through my building to find my present. Yeah! I'll put up pictures of it later.
We went the the three amigos and I got a free sombrero! Ole!
We spent 2 hours trying to find a decent dance club. But we had fun. Twas Misha and April and I. Good times.

Had a mini identity crisis this afternoon after getting off the phone with Dan (english boy). I have nothing to study! - what do I do???

How sad is that.

Big THANK YOU to all of those who put up with me during these last few weeks.
*cough*

I love surprises

I admit that I am VERY hard to surprise. I always see things coming a million miles down the road because I have a vivid imagination that gets me thinking of the plethora of possible scenarios that might lie ahead of me.
Nonetheless, I was surprised thrice so far today.
I arrived at Second Cup at 8am this morning to meet with April to review our material before our 9am exam and SURPRISE! she had bought me a latte. My first birthday present. I was so happy. You don't know how excited I was. In the midst of exam time (that has endured over the past 3 weeks) lattes are such a nice treat!
Then, following my exam, I came home and opened up the door to my apartment and SURPRISE! Emilie had adorned our apartment with heaps of balloons, ribbons, 'happy birthday' banners and even a blow up killer whale. Haha. Made me so happy, I wanted to cry.
And as I was heading out the door to edit my final paper in the library, the phone rang and SURPRISE! I get serenaded by a three part harmony rendition of 'happy birthday' all the way from the westcoast.
Despite the fact that I am in the library, at 3:30pm on my birthday, editing this paper that's taking soooo long to finish, I have a smile on my face, because I know that people our there love me. Yeah.
(this is where everyone sighs and says "awwwwww")

Oh yeah, and P.S. I am 23 - the mid twenties. Yikes!
AND P.P.S. I think I changed it so that anyone can comment, not just those with blogs. So feel free to rip apart my most private entries...(nervously smiling now)

Glorious

I spent most of my day studying inside. But I just went to a cafe and sat outside studying for 2 hours - it was GORGEOUS. I absolutely love the spring weather. Sometimes summer is just too hot. I like summer evenings, but in Spring it's just gorgeous all the time. Cool breeze, not coats, but no sweating...just sunshine and bliss. Something to smile about while burried in books about neuroanatomy.
Cheers

Phobias

On a study break, I looked up the index of Phobias.
I wanted to share some of them with you, because they brought me some amusement.

Salsa, Filipinos and Sunshine

School is crazy busy, BUT, a book that I have read this semester for my Human Motivation Class, which was amazingly insightful. Check it out.

I slept over at Julia's place this weekend. We went salsa dancing on Friday night. Haha. It was heaps of fun. I danced with the cute dance instructor. There were so many ugly old men there, so I was happy to dance with Mo. Although you know you aren't doing that well when your dancing partner has to clap out the beats for you :P
This morning I woke up at 8am to do some reading for school and at around 10am I thought - I'd like to go to church this morning. (Sidenote: I go to church at 7:30pm Sunday nights). So I went to People's Church. After service I hung out with the Filipino Fellowship. They fed me well. Yum. I got to chill with my friend Jason (aka JJ) from COR.
So it's Sunday afternoon, and despite the enormous amount of homework I have to look forward to, I am grateful for the friends that I have been able to hang out with and laugh with. It helped give me a better perspective of life at the moment. Oh yeah, and it's 20 degrees outside today. Hellooooooooooooo Gorgeous.

For prayers - some decisions about next year have to be made soon. Thanks for your support. Blessings!

I'll say a little prayer for you

In case any of you out there want to shout out some specific prayers for your sister in Christ *cough* that is me, here are some for you. And bless your souls for doing so.

I have a 10 page paper due by the end of the week. (Currently almost half way done)

I have a midterm this Thursday 9am in the course that I failled last semester, and yes, it's true, this exam is worth %70. So I am feeling some pressure.

I have yet another exam on Friday 2pm and then I'll be exam free for 6 more days. Then 4 more days, then 2. Total of 5 exams.

Pray for my sanity. That I can stay focused. That I won't freak out. That I'll have time to cook and eat, as well as sleep. Also, I am sick. I have lost my voice and I have a head cold (just what you want at the BEGINNING of exams). This is definately stressful, but hey, I'll be done April 28th for my birthday and then get 3 big whole days off before summer school...*groan*

haha. Oh well. That's life. Thanks for the prayers guys. One love.

Happy Birthday J-Dawg

It's my brother's birthday today and I want to CELEBRATE this very important occaison. Josh is now 21 years old.
I love you Josh. I am proud of you and who you are. I am so blessed to have you as a brother and I wish you the best year. May God deeply enrich your life.

This is one of the cutest pics of Josh as a wee lad

Desire

I wish I had something clever or witty to say, but my life these past few days and in the next few weeks to come are so school focused that there is little left over for charm and entertainment.
I have been thinking - in the small study breaks - about the desires of my heart. My passions. My pursuits.
It has hit me that if all goes well, I'll be done school in June. The rest of my life is wide open. So what do I want to do? I feel so blessed to have so many options before me, but I struggle with making choices.
So what is my desire? This is my quest.

If you could do ANYTHING in your life, what would you do? Are you on the road to doing it?

For those interested

Since just after christmas I have been chilling at this stellar church called Calvary Chapel Montreal which is teaching me so much about what church is. They preach the bible with no extra frills. They are post-modern and very laid back. Click on the link above to see their statement of faith etc. I'll write more later, but yeah, just wanted to throw that out there.

Oh an p.s. say a little prayer for me and my studies :S I'm trying to study between 7-8 hours outside of classes a day... how I long for my pillow. But God is with me!!! (and even sends me love letters - look below)

Letter from Jesus

K, I went to get my mail today and I got two letters - one from my mom and one that didn't have a return address on it.
I thought - okay....that's weird, but it has a stamp from Canada, so before I opened it up I was trying to think of who it could be from.
I am making some lunch as I open the envelope to look write at the bottom of the letter to see who it's from. It says "Jesus".
My interest is heightened.
I glance at the top and it says "Jesus says to you Kirsten:..." then goes on to quote Songs of Solomon 4:8-10. A lover letter from Jesus to me.

Thank you to the messenger for reminding me of Christ's deep affection to me :)
